Momo’s is the south Asian steamed filled dumpling, it is popular across the Indian subcontinent and Himalayan regions of border of South Asia. Momo’s are native to Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal, Northeast Indian regions of Sikkim, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and East Indian regions of Darjeeling.

Nowadays Momo’s are very famous in India. Lots of people now days eat Momo’s, In India the amount sell of Momo’s increasing very fast. Momo’s is a street food and it is good or bad it depends on the material that uses by the owner of Momo’s stall. Momo’s are steamed vegetables, or steamed chicken covered by wheat flour tortillas. Not all (Momo) are steamed some of them are fried in oil, in fried Momo’s we specially used chicken Momo’s means the non veg Momo’s are also called fried Momo’s.

There are two types of Momo’s
- Veg Momo
- Non-veg Momo
Veg Momo’s
Veg Momo are made up of vegetables like carrot, cabbage, onion, garlic, ginger, and we can also add noodles. Veg Momo are very easy to make. Veg Momo are steamed not fried.

Non-veg Momo’s
Non veg Momo’s are filled with chicken pieces in wheat flour tortillas. And non veg Momo’s are fried momo because steam are not sufficient for making of Momo’s.

Recipe to make momo or how to make Momo’s
First we need to know about the ingredients use in making of Momo’s
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (0.47 liters) wheat flour (maida).
- 1/2 teaspoon salt.
- Water ass needed.
- Oil for greasing the dough.
Material for stuffing
- 3 teaspoon oil.
- 3 clove garlic fine chopped.
- 1 inch (2.54 centimeters) ginger finely chopped.
- 2 chilies fined chopped.
- 4 tablespoon spring onions.
- 3 cup (0.71 liters) cabbage chopped in shredded form.
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper not powder, Crushed pepper.
- 1 cup (0.24 liters) carrot.
- 1/2 teaspoon salt.
Follow the instructions
- First we need to make stuffing, for that heated 3 teaspoon oil then add clove garlic, ginger and chili. You can add chili by your test and also add garlic and ginger by your test.
- Add 2 tablespoon onion and fry it on high flame whenever it’s turn into red.
- Add 1 cup (0.24 liters) of carrot and 2 cups (0.47 liters) cabbage, stir-fry on high flame.
- Now add 1/2 teaspoon pepper and 1/2 teaspoon of salt, If you are spicy love you can add more pepper.
- 2 tablespoon spring onion add in the mixture of vegetables additionally. We cut 4 tablespoon onion first 2 tablespoon use early.
- If the mixture is ready, take it outside of pan to cool the vegetable’s mixture (Momo filling).
- Now go to dough, pinch a small ball from dough and flattered it.
- Sprinkle some wheat flour and started rolling the small ball of dough.
- Roll the ball around 4-6 inch, make sure that the flattered roll is slightly thick in center.
- Then add stuffing of vegetables in center flattered dough(tortillas).
- Now take tortillas in hand and pleating the edges slowly and gather everything. Press in the middle and seal the Momo’s forming a bundle.
- Heat a steamer using water, but the limit of water is under the pot or tray using for steaming Momo’s(like we use idly cooker).
- Steam the momo for 9-12 minutes or shiny sheen appears on it.
- If shiny sheen appears then the Momo’s are ready. Then take out them and serve it.
- And the Momo’s is ready to eat with soya sauce or you can eat with tomato ketchup.

Momo’s good for health?
Yes, Momo’s eating is good for health. Because they are not fried, they did not have lots of oil. Momo’s steam that’s why they are good for health, but you should change the plain flour(maida) with whole wheat flour in making of Momo’s wrapping. That is crucial for health.
Momo’s contains 1.8 gram fat but no cholesterol in Momo’s. Vitamins in Momo’s are vitamin A and vitamin A contains 63.3 micrograms vitamin.
