Fried rice

Fried rice is a dish of cooked rice that has been stir-fired in wok, or we can use pan for the same work. In fried rice we can add some ingredients, seafood, eggs, or pieces of meat but small pieces of meat. This dish serve specially itself or you can serve with curry, egg rolls, and many other, like spring rolls, fresh fruit as side desert.

Origin of fried rice

Fried rice is invented in the early, it is invented in Sui dynasty in China. As such as all fried rice dishes can trace their origins to Chinese fried rice. Fried rice are lots to history, it’s believed that it was invented in (A.D. 589–618), in yanghzhou in eastern Jiangsu province.
Most of Chinese people eat fried rice and also Asian people eat fried rice as dinner. In fried rice there are two types veg fried rice and non veg fried rice. In fried rice there are so many ingredients used, like salt, chili powder, cabbage, carrot, onion, and some sauces are used in fried rice.

Tips for best fried rice

  • If you want best, delicious, and testy fried rice then you must you non-sticky rice. Then rinse it and cook it Al dente (tender but still firm to the bite) and not mushy. You should use an open pot to cook rice.
  • Remove water from the rice or cool the rice completely before adding the rice into the pan or wok.
  • Please do not use cold vegetables from fridge because they let out moisture and turn to soft when we added them in making of fried rice.
  • Fried rice can make without any sauce, but soya sauce imparts a flavor. You can add any sauce which you like, like chili sauce, schezwan sauce.
  • If you want a non-sticky rice then you must add a table spoon of oil and tossing up the rice from pan. It gives you the non-sticky rice.

Ingredients of fried rice

  1. 2 cups (0.47 liters) rice (long grains).
  2. 1 table spoon chopped garlic.
  3. 2 table spoon olive oil (you can use any oil).
  4. 1 table spoon soya sauce.
  5. 3/4 or 1 table spoon vinegar.
  6. Add salt by your test.
  7. 1/2 teaspoon pepper crushed.

Vegetable for fried rice

  1. 1/4 cup (0.95 liters) finely chopped carrot.
  2. 1/4 cup (0.95 liters) chopped capsicum.
  3. You need around half bowl cabbage.
  4. 1/4 cup (0.95 liters) spring onions.
  5. If you like chicken fried rice you must need boiled chicken pieces in chopped form.

Procedure of making fried rice

  • Skip the above section if you precook the rice, or read carefully.
  • Soak the rice 10 minutes in water. And then remove the water from grains(drain the water).
  • Put 7 to 10 small cups water to a large pot for boiling the rice.
  • Adding rice on the pot after adding rice pour 1 teaspoon oil on it for non-sticky rice.
  • Rice must be not mushy, non-sticky but has to be grainy. Cook rice until al dente.
  • Drain of the rice to a colander. Cool it completely and fluff it up with fork, for non-sticky rice.
  • Chop veggies, garlic and ready other ingredients.

The following step of making of exact fried rice

  • Heat a wok or pan on high flame with oil and fry the chopped garlic. You must need high flame for frying the ingredients.
  • Then put all the chopped vegetables and fry them for 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Add vinegar, salt and half teaspoon sugar.
  • Add soya sauce, chili sauce if you want spicy rice.
  • Put rice on wok & pepper powder. Fry the rice with vegetables for 3 minute.
  • Garnish fried rice with fresh chopped spring onions, chopped cabbage.

Health tips on soya sauce

  • Soya sauce if used in moderation is said to be healthy. Hence, do not include in your diet as it is high in sodium & may cause your health.
  • While buying soya sauce choose one that is labelled as naturally brewed or traditionally brewed other way of making soya sauce uses harsh chemical which cause side effects in the long run.
  • Also check the ingredients, some soya sauce come with MSG (ajinomotto) include in it. Do not buy such bottles.
  • Soya is hormone disrupt er, so use with caution specially for kids.
